Trust me, I know that there are a ton of tips out there for how to grow your ecommerce business. As a marketing manager, I see them all the time: stay active on social media, run paid ads, write blogs, plan virtual events… The list goes on and on!
One of the things that falls through the cracks of a digital marketing strategy a lot is email marketing. It’s a seriously underrated tool that alone can bring your business a lot more attention and a lot more sales. Maybe you’ve never even considered it, or maybe you already know that, but coming up with weekly email marketing ideas is one of those things that makes you groan. Whichever category you fall into, I’m here to help.
Engaging with your audience over email can take many forms. Whether it be newsletters, campaigns, launch sequences, or automated flows, what matters the most is that they’re strategic, creative and actually drive results. Here are a few of my favorite email marketing ideas for ecommerce brands!

Email Marketing Ideas for Ecommerce Brands (That Will Actually Generate Sales)
Email marketing is a really powerful tool for ecommerce brands when it’s done right. If you’ve spent a long time working on it for your business with no real results, you need these email marketing ideas to actually get people to buy your products.
Tell a Story
One of the top tips that I can give you for email marketing is to hook people’s attention as quickly as possible. People are way more likely to click on an email with a subject line that resonates with them than something that’s trying to actively sell to them.
Connection in marketing strategies is really underrated, when it’s actually one of the things that get people to buy your products the most. For example, one of my email marketing clients, Scent and Psyche, creates candle scents based on feeling. So when I send out campaigns for them… That becomes the main focus of the whole email. They’re about what the scent of the candles evokes, not that the candles are 20% off today. They’re about how the scent will make you feel, what it reminds you of, where it brings you to.
The result? An 84.15% open rate, and a steady flow of sales coming in.
You can do this for your brand by coming up with a story in your (or someone you know) personal life that your product could’ve helped you with. Speak directly to your client’s pain points, connect with them, and watch that revenue amount go up.
Interactive Emails
Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your clients is to ask them what they want. Whether you include a fun poll in your email for the week or ask people to submit real-life stories using your products (that you can then tie in to even more email marketing ideas), people love to feel a part of your business.
Statistics
Like I said before, speaking directly to your target client’s pain points will be what makes them feel heard, which is a huge part of the nurturing section of your sales funnel.
Write a newsletter all about a relevant statistic you heard. Maybe you’re a wine brand and want to let your customers know that a glass of red wine every day is actually proven to have health benefits. Maybe you’re a high-quality clothing brand and want to expand on why you use the materials you do. Customers love to be educated about the benefits of your products.
Exclusive Email-List Perks
Whether it’s a new product launch or a secret promotion, having exclusive emails in your email marketing ideas is a great way to both encourage signups and to get people to take advantage of a specific deal.
Connect it to Pop Culture
Especially for ecommerce brands whose target clients are Gen Z or Millenials, connecting your email marketing ideas to pop culture events happening is one of those things that will always get people reading.
A new movie coming out? Have a marketing campaign centered around that. Big celebrity wedding happening? Share your products plus a tutorial on how to get the same makeup look as the bride.
Behind-the-Scenes Content
Have a new product launch coming up? A great email marketing idea is to show off the behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the new product. Maybe it’s bits and pieces from the product photoshoot, or maybe it’s a little teaser of a new flavor. Whatever it is, it gets people interested and ready for the big launch.
